Mount Alexander Youth Partnerships A state funded initiative June 2014 Connect Central Castlemaine GLLEN is an active contributor with the partnership focus on Governance; ‘no wrong door’ / centralised youth referral intake system; youth re-engagement research; flexible learning options; & member of Mental Health Early Intervention Project to establish a youth clinic in Castlemaine (ongoing partnership in 2013) Education Providers Forum Initiated and chaired by GLLEN; resulted in new flexible learning options for young people in 2012; energy into maintaining relationships in a contracting sphere (ongoing partnership in 2013)

Report completed with recommendations for improving service coordination & pathways for young people (ongoing partnership in 2013) Sandhurst Cluster Transition Youth Partnerships Project GLLEN is lead partner of the project management team with a focus on young people `at risk` of not successfully completing the transition between primary and secondary school (ongoing partnership in 2013)

Provide a variety of authentic learning and engagement experiences for students to enhance career & world of work knowledge Young Industry Ambassador training Co-ordinated by GLLEN with Careers In Manufacturing, (now defunct) the Bendigo Manufacturing Group and AIGTs; training and promotion in Bendigo since 2011 (ongoing partnership/training in 2013) Worlds of Work GLLEN secured four programs for secondary students in partnership with the Foundation for Young Australians and local schools; strong support from local business (ongoing partnership in 2013)

Develop a partnership with the Bendigo Manufacturing Group, the Economic Development Unit City of Greater Bendigo, Lightning Reef & Eaglehawk Primary Schools to start to build an understanding of the world of work GLLEN a member of the management committee to develop a 2012 pilot project, ‘Passions & Pathways’ for grade six Students from the two schools, linking workplace visitation, workplace buddies (Young Industry Ambassadors) and project based applied learning facilitated and taught by industry representatives Case study written as part of the GLLEN 2012 Annual Report (ongoing partnership in 2013)

Develop a partnership with the Eaglehawk Community National Partnerships Extended school hubs specifically Lightning Reef and Eaglehawk Primary Schools to engage parents with the ‘Passions & Pathways’ project The intent was to engage parents in the project to support their capacity to engage with the world of work and have conversations with their children about the importance of attending school each day. There was limited success; more effort to engage them in the 2013 Project (ongoing partnership in 2013)

Develop a partnership with the Eaglehawk Community National Partnerships Extended school hubs specifically Lightning Reef and Eaglehawk Primary Schools to engage local champions with the ‘Passions & Pathways’ project With the schools, the City of Greater Bendigo and the Bendigo Manufacturing Group, the GLLEN has sourced and supported local champions, including trained Young Industry Ambassadors, to engage with the grade six students`through workplace visitations, class presentations and facilitating applied learning projects to develop students understanding of, and the soft skills required for, the world of work (ongoing partnership in 2013)
