Reason opposition ts – However, some may argue that PE is a waste of time and money. CD – They feel the money used for equipment and teacher salaries could be better spent on academic learning. CM – Actually, many schools already have locker rooms and gyms, so it does not cost any more money to use the facilities already in place. This is money well spent for our future generation. CS – Therefore, PE should be a required course in middle school. Per. B

Agenda Read AR book Think about the PE essay.

CDs Requires teamwork Promotes sportsmanship Creates 6 pillars of our character traits Learn social skills cooperation These are life skills Gives some students the only time to suceed in school fairness CMs Helps later In life Become a better person More successful Feel more confident in life Physical persaverience Per. E

Reason # 1 – Shaping Sheet ts - PE strongly encourages students to become well rounded. cd – Since PE requires teamwork, students learn important social skills like cooperation and being a good sport. CD – During PE class, students can use the six pillars of character traits supported by our school district such as respect, responsibility, fairness, and caring. cm – This is important because students will need these real life experiences in places like college. cs – A daily Physical Education class must be kept for our students to be prepared for the rapidly changing world.

t-chart – 2 nd reason – PE gives students a break from the regular classroom. CDs Time to cool down Mental break time Fresh air Time to think about your day Physical workout Time to talk to friends Stretch and get your blood flowing Not in a classroom Get to run around Burn off energy CMs – why is it important People look forward to PE Keeps students excited about school Go back to class refreshed and ready to learn Won’t fall asleep fun Per. B CS -

Reason # 2 – Shaping Sheet Ts – Physical Education class gives students a break from the regular classroom. Cd – This daily activity allows students some mental break time from regular academic classes, and it even allows socializing with friends. Cd – Since a typical middle school day is filled with learning, PE gives students time to refresh and think about their day. Cm – This is important as students have now burned off extra or unneeded energy, and they are now ready to learn. Cs - PE gives students more freedom, while making sure they are not locked inside all day.

t-chart – 3 rd reason PE promotes a healthy lifestyle. TS: CDs Strengthens immune system improves muscles and lungs Increases physical stamina Obese people need exercise Teaches nutrition / food Get back into shape Uses body instead of mind Only time students get to exercise Improve Blood circulates Improves hand / eye coordination CMs – WHY is this important? Makes people feel better / self- esteem / self-worth Gives people sense of belonging Live longer Live a happier, healthier life Per.B

Reason # 3 – Shaping Sheet Ts - PE promotes a healthy lifestyle. Cd – As obesity rates continue to rise in the United States, it is crucial for children to get the one hour of daily physical exercise during this class. Cd – Students need to strengthen their bodies, improve blood circulation, and build the heart and lung every day so they can live a longer, happier life. Cm –Even a short PE class can get students into a habit of daily exercise so they may continue this routine later in life. Cs – As you can see, Physical Education encourages the well being of every middle school student.

Conclusion Paragraph 6 – all CM #1 – I want to persuade my reader that PE should be a required course in middle school. #2 – PE shapes students to become well- rounded, gives students a break from class, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. #3 – The daily physical education class is not only fun for students, but important to the future.
