 The Rhine/Meuse-Maine-Danube waterways:  Are Trans-European waterways, part of the trans-European networks (TEN-T) covering all transport infrastructures vital for trade and mobility across the European Union.  Connect the North Sea with the Black Sea  Home to over 200 million people  Cross 14 countries : Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, republic of Moldavia, Ukraine and four capitals: Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade.  The nearest point on the Rhine/Meuse- Maine-Danube waterways to the sea ports in Thessalonica and Athens/Piraeus in Greece is in Lom.
