¿Español? ¿Por qué? Individually. List five reasons you think learning a world language is important.

Why is knowing a language’s sound system important?

With the manager of your group leading the conversation, discuss the reasons that each person in your group has on their list. If someone in your group has written an idea that you would like to use, write their idea on your own paper and say “Gracías por compartir”, which means (Thanks for sharing)

As you watch the following video. Ask yourself these questions? How can learning another language beneficial to me in my current and future life? What could happen to those who do NOT learn another language in today’s global society?

Barking fish – YouTube German Coast Guard

Discussion: Remember to wait to be called on before you speak.

Group Work: Top Ten Reasons to Study a World Language Today your group will focus on learning about and sharing ONE reason for studying a world language. You will be given information that you will need to discuss as a group. Then you will work as a group to create and present a visual to represent the reason that your group focused on. You will all have to present your visual to the class and it will be graded, so do your best work!

Group Work: Top Ten Reasons to Study a World Language It is important to listen to the information that is presented by each group and to jot down notes about ideas that you think are important. You will be creating your own poster for homework and you may want to use some of the ideas that are presented in class.

Group Work: Top Ten Reasons to Study a World Language It is important to listen to the information that is presented by each group and to jot down notes about ideas that you think are important. You will be creating your own poster for homework and you may find that some of the ideas shared in class today will help you form your own goals for studying a language.

Personal Project: First make a list of eight to ten reasons YOU want to study Spanish. After you have come up with your goals, find a picture that represents each goal from a magazine or clip art. Arrange your photos ONLY ( No words) on a ¼ sheet of poster board and be prepared to share with your goup and the class what each photo represents.

Personal Project: The rubric for the project is as follows: Completion of the assignment…30 points Poster/brochure………………..…..40 points Effort…………………………….………10 points Presentation………………………….20 points
