Using the Library’s Website Blackboard Use your Blackboard username and password.

Getting Help

How-To Guides  Subject- or course-specific, e.g. “Nutrition & Dietetics 260” or “Occupational Therapy.”  Provides access to online resources and tutorials.

Food Sciences Journals The library subscribes to: Annual Review of Food Science & Technology European Food Research & Technology Food Chemistry International Journal of Food Science & Technology Journal of Food Science And more… The N&D 260 How-To Guide has links to these and other food sciences journals.

BROWSING JOURNALS EXAMPLE…

1. Click “Browse by Subject” on the library website. 2. Choose your subject. Try “Food”, “Food Analysis”, or “Food Technology”. 3. Select a journal from this list. Click the link to open. FYI Sometimes we have more than 1 way to access a journal. Check the date range before choosing an access point.

Or click on a year to browse. Click this link to search journal for a word or phrase, e.g. “additives”.

Hover mouse over this icon to read abstract. Click on PDF icon to read full-text article. Look through your results for a scholarly article.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE…

You can also search for a journal using the “Library Resources” box on the library homepage.

On this publisher’s website, you can search for a specific term here, e.g. “pectin”. Make sure you are searching this journal only. Or select a specific volume to browse. Note: PDF is always better than “Full Text” or “HTML”.

Tips for Choosing a Good Article Authors – Affiliations? Credentials? Journal – Peer-reviewed? Professional or academic journal? Magazine? Length – How long? Figures? – Tables & charts? Or pictures? Reference List – How many? Are the references current? Books or articles? Example 1 Example 2
