Grade classification Promotion to 10th grade requires 6 credits 26 credits required to graduate Please check your skyward account on the “graduation requirements” link. This is your responsibility. Freshmen to-do list Start thinking about your life after school. What are your current interests? talk to others in the community about future careers. Participate in extracurricular activities. Have a realistic conversation about financial situation for college. Explore summer opportunities. Join clubs and organizations. Continue to do your best.
Parent to-do list Support your child’s developmental independence by encouraging self-advocacy and responsibility for balancing homework with other activities. Monitor skyward gradebook account. Review progress reports , report card and daily attendance. Connect with teachers and counselors with concerns.
Academic resources Students should talk to teachers. Lunch tutorials available every day during 1st half of lunch and 2nd half of lunch in the media center for all core courses and LOTE. Tuesday and Thursday night school from 4:30-6:30 in media center for all core courses and LOTE. Testing center located in room 213
Schedule issues We can’t make teacher changes or class period changes Pre-AP classes may be dropped within the first 9 weeks

Checking your child out during the day The following procedures are in place for the safety of everyone in the building. Contact info 972-429-3101 or 972-429-3102 You must present an official govt ID to enter the building You must present the ID every time you enter the building Parents must come into the building to pick up their student – we cannot dismiss a student to the parking lot even with a phone call Students will only be released to parents/guardians or those listed on the emergency contact list We follow these rules very closely for the protection of your students.
Riding the bus Almost every WHS student is eligible to ride the bus Please check the “bus route finder” on the WISD website on the “transportation” page to find which bus your child will ride, when and where the bus stop is located. If you do not see your address, please call transportation at 972-429-2300 to let them know that your address has not been assigned a bus
