USER MANUAL - WORLDSCINET www.worldscientific.com

World Scientific Platform The new World Scientific platform was launched in July 2018 to integrate over 8,000 e-book titles and 130 journals onto one single platform @ www.worldscientific.com Search across all our books, E-Books and journals Search using Authors’ names, keywords or DOI, ISBN, and more Contextual Search. If you are on a journal page, the default changes from ‘Anywhere’ to ‘This journal’ or if you are on a book page, ‘This book’. We combined everything into one site so that users do not have to access different websites for different content. UMS specific: currently UMS doesn’t not have any ebook collection, but we hope you do. (look out for a trial sometime in Sep/Oct/Nov) >> All our E-Books and journals are in PDF format and accessible through www.worldscientific.com

World Scientific Platform The default search Tab is for Chapters and Articles. You can choose to show results for Books under the Book Titles tab or Journals under the corresponding Journal Title tab Save your Search! Set an alert schedule and be updated automatically when new results become available Filter Options are available on the left, including Publication Type, Date range, and more. Filters applied will be indicated here For you, since you only have CS journals, just choose the first option for search. >> All our content is archived in Portico ensuring the contents are preserved and accessible in the long term

Safe Search World Scientific Platform Arguably, the most important feature on the platform If this is set up properly, you won’t need to visit worldscientific.com to know what is the latest publication THAT IS RELEVANT to you, that is being published. You will be informed via email, the day (depending on your setting) something that matches your interest is uploaded. If you are interested in a topic, save search a particular keyword(s) and set the alert frequency. If you are interested in a particular journal, safe search the journal title. If you are interested in book series, safe search the series name.

Last but not least, you can sort results by relevance or by Date World Scientific Platform The icons for each search result indicate if you have Full Access (blue), Free Access (green) or if the content is Open Access (orange) Last but not least, you can sort results by relevance or by Date

World Scientific Platform On mobile, the page is similar to the desktop, except that the Filters are displayed separately All filter options available on desktop is available on mobile as well. Click on back to go back to search results

World Scientific Platform Functions the same way as basic search, except you can add as many criterias as you want, by clicking on the ‘plus’ icon You can specify which publication you want the results to be from Date options to refine the results more You can also check out your Search History here, with the Option to ‘RUN’ the search again As well as the Saved Searches you have done.

World Scientific Platform – Journal pages Submit Article links direct to our article submission system. Subscribe button links to subscription rates of the journal Tools allows you to recommend the journal and Sign up For Table of Contents alerts For readers to share the abstract through social media 3. We are also rolling out Accepted Papers. Currently we do have such a section already, but it only lists the articles. You can’t cite what you cannot read, so we are making changes so that we can immediately (2 days or so) put up an author’s version. Language sometimes might not be good (English not first language), and layout not as ‘nice’. But readable. Main idea is for people to start read and cite asap. More information on the journal, including Aims and Scope, Abstracting and Indexing information and more Menu bar to navigate through the issues of the journal >> Check out the Advanced Search for even more search options

World Scientific Platform – book pages Choose to buy the hardcover. paperback or electronic copy Alternatively, you can ‘save for later’ if you are not sure you want the book now Here are the tools Downloading ciation Tracking citation Recommend the book to library Full Book PDF is now available for selected titles Chapters: View and download Chapters PDFs About the Authors, Reviews on the book and Supplementary materials can be found in the corresponding tabs

World Scientific Platform – Book pages The various tabs (Chapters to access the ebook chapter pdf, Reviews, Authors and Supplementary) on the book page can be access on Mobile via a drop down menu

World Scientific Platform – Book pages Ebook PDFs are reader via an inbuilt e-reader program. World Scientific Platform Google subscriber program: We actually cooperate with Google Scholar, so that if your institute subscribes to the content you have searched, the first link will be to World Scientific. We also continuously look for the sites that academics frequently visit and indexed our contents there, making sure they are visible when searched Will talk about the except for later… (pages to bookmark. i.e information that is only on certain webpage, not promoted)

Manage your personal details here. World Scientific Platform Manage your personal details here. Check out what E-books or journals you have access to. If you have bought a personal copy to the E-book, you can come back anytime to download it again You can manage your various Alerts here. E.g. Table of Contents alerts, Newsletters signups, etc After a Search, you can save the search and set up a regular alert. You can manage these saved searches here. As I mentioned earlier, you would need a registered account to do safe search and access free contents. These are the extra functions available for you. >> Register a free account to enjoy the above functionalities
