Everyday essentials A labelled water bottle Healthy fruit snack A coat A labelled book bag. Home / School diary

Topics and Teaching Each term we have a different topic which is taught in a cross curricular way. This will be communicated at the beginning of each term. We plan carefully for children’s individual needs to ensure progression and support in specific areas. The mornings are set up to provide the children the opportunity to develop English, Maths and Phonics. Guided Reading takes place daily in groups and there is a big focus on comprehension as well as word recognition.

Handwriting Children will be practising their handwriting daily. Some of the children are keen to practise their handwriting at home and we can provide and guidance.

Reading books and home school diaries. The children have the opportunity to change their books daily and will be supported with this. Please encourage your child to read at least three times each week, sign and comment each time. Use your child’s diary to communicate messages e.g. changes to home time arrangements etc.

Responsibilities and rewards Class monitors Team points Praise Book Examples of good work displayed on the working wall Star of the day Elected representatives for School Parliament Golden Time

Rewards and Sanctions Children earn team points for good behaviour and work. These are added up at the end of each week. Children can earn Star of the day certificates and can be in the weekly praise book. Our class follow the ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour system. Yellow and red cards are used for children who are breaking the Golden rules. Children are rewarded with a ‘Good to be Green’ certificate if they remain green throughout each term and a special badge if they have remained green all year

Golden time Children get 30 minutes ‘Golden time’ on a Friday afternoon. Any child from Year 1 up to Year 6,who has had a yellow card will miss 5 minutes of Golden time. Any child who has had a red card will spend their Golden time with Mr Perry.

PE Kits P.E. timetable: Y2 Friday and Y1 Monday but we may go outside for PE at other times during the week. P.E. kits are kept at school all week. Shorts, t-shirts and pumps for indoor P.E. Trainers and tracksuit for outdoors activities. Please either remove or cover any earrings.

Homework Children will usually receive a piece of English and Maths work on Friday. This will link in with work covered in class that week. All homework needs to be handed in for the following Wednesday. Children will be asked to produce a topic related piece of homework which is optional.

How can you support your child at home? Spelling – supporting your child with key word spelling. Reading – developing comprehension skills, reading for meaning and predicting. Maths – mental recall of number facts to 10/20, practising counting forwards and backwards and practising times tables. Each term our class letter will tell you about our topic focus. A weekly note home, sent on Friday, will give information about the following week.

MyMaths www.mymaths.co.uk Maths tasks will be set and you can complete them online. Your child has a LOGIn.
