Presentation transcript:

MRI Assessment of Subspine Impingement: Features beyond the Anterior Inferior Iliac Spine Morphology A B Distal cam, an osseous bump along the femoral neck more distal to the head-neck junction, was more prevalent in patients with a clinical and arthroscopic diagnosis of subspine impingement (SSI) than in those without SSI (P < .001). Signs of impingement on the distal femoral neck (P < .001) and superior capsular edema (75% vs 7.1% for reader 1 and 85% vs 52% for reader 2; P < .001, P = .02, respectively) were greater in patients with SSI than in those without SSI. In a 20-year-old diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement and SSI, A, MRI shows distal extension of the cam morphology (white arrow) involving the femoral neck. B, Three-dimensional MRI shows the extent of the cam morphology (black arrows) and its correlation with the anterior inferior iliac spine (white arrow). Samim M et al.
