Workshop 4: INSTRUCTIONAL WEBSITES RESEARCH AND RESOURCES Training Agenda Workshop 4: INSTRUCTIONAL WEBSITES RESEARCH AND RESOURCES This workshop will introduce parent participants to a variety of internet safety and usage strategies to be used with their children that will enhance development of the higher order thinking skills necessary to be able to function effectively in today’s world of vast information available on the internet. . In addition to the practice of internet safety, participants will learn how to use the NYC Department of Education’s website to help their family’s seek information about the school system that their children are members of. Region 7 Technology Integration Staff Developer Training Goals Our focus is on maximizing parent and student involvement in exercising safe internet usage for academic and social productive activities at home and in school. By learning how to navigate the internet successfully and safely, parents can ensure that their children will meet the challenging, present and future classroom instruction that stress composition, comprehension, and application of skills in the context of working on authentic tasks during their academic and everyday life. Three Goals of this academy… 1) What we should know as parents about Internet safety for our children? How we can ensure our children’s safety when he or she is using the internet? 2) What are children should know about internet safety for themselves. 3) How can the NYC Department of Education Website be a helpful tool for finding information, that will benefit and promote your children’s academic success?
