Regional Representation Activities for 2005 Activities focus on: Strengthening capacity of national Veterinary Services Improve capacity of information Development and implementation of OIE standards

Activities for 2005 Internship opportunities for the Regional Representation for the following tasks: 1.1.Producing and updating a list of experts in the Americas region. 1.2.Producing and updating a list of the capacity of laboratories in the Americas. 1.3. Updating of Web page. 2. Encourage member countries involvement in the production of OIE standards and guidelines.

SCHEDULE FOR PRODUCTION OF COMMENTS TO OIE STANDARDS MAY INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE The International Committee is constituted by 167 Central Veterinary Officers of the OIE Country Members, analyzes and adopts international standards and analyzes and adopts country, zones and compartmentalization recognition. JULY COMMISSIONS MEETINGS Experts from different specialized Commissions meet in the OIE CB headquarters in Paris (France). Comments made in May and those made by the countries are received. AUGUST FORWARDING OF COMMISSIONS REPORTS Publication of Information on modification to standards raised from comments sent by Delegates, as well as recognition request for country, zoning or compartmentalization in the Delegates official and public web site SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER PREPARATION AND RELEASE OF COMMENTS The Countries study the Commissions reports, discuss with their interested parties and prepare answers and comments to a national level for the Commissions. Share their criteria with countries of the region throughout the Regional Office. Forward their comments to OIE CB before end of December Experts from different specialized Commissions meet in the OIE CB headquarters in Paris (France). Comments on the proposed text by countries are analyzed, including ad hoc expert working group reports and recognition requests of county, zoning and compartmentalization JANUARY COMMISSIONS MEETINGS FEBRUARY FORWARDING OF COMMISSION Publication of Information on proposal of modifications to standards for adoption in May, including the ad-hoc working group complete reports, as well as decisions taken on recognition request of country, zone or compartment.. FEBRUARY TO APRIL PREPARATION AND FORWARDING OF COMMENTS The countries study the Commissions reports, discuss with their interested parties and prepare answers and comments to a national level for the Commissions. Share their criteria with the Region countries throughout the Regional Office. Forward their comments to the OIE CB before end of May

It is deem necessary to access to all available information on OIE related matters, as to avoid looses of time and improve knowledge and efficiency of CB and RR Regarding publications of tender advertisement in the OIE web page by OIE member countries, I have observed that none responded to this offer. Should OIE Regional Representation promote this OIE service among OIE Member Countries?
