Applying for a job Employability Class

Job Application- a printed sheet with blanks that you fill in to apply for a job Job Applicant- a person who is applying for the job References- a person who will tell an employer that you will be a good employee Job application terms

Job Application Information Job application forms ask for facts about you Each form is a little different but contains most of the same categories Common categories: Personal information- name, phone number, address, social security number Job information- what job you are applying for, date you can start work, days/hours you can work, pay desired Education Experience References Job Application Information

Obtaining a job application Get in person by going to business or career center Be polite when asking Make a good first impression Get one by calling Use good phone manners Fill one out online Fill out accurately Obtaining a job application

Personal Fact Sheet- a list of all the information about yourself that you will need for a job application form A personal fact sheet makes it easy to fill out a job application sheet It is just a reference sheet List these facts on your personal fact sheet- date of birth, driver’s license number, interests/hobbies, awards, past work experiences and dates, schools you have attended, & references and contact info Personal Fact Sheet

Reference- a person who will tell an employer how you work or how you will be as an employee Who makes good references?? Teachers, coaches, pervious employers, co-workers Do not use relatives or friends Choose someone that will put in a good word for you Ask permission to use them as a reference Choosing References
