Meeting Overview 45 attendees 22 input documents Three (3) High Interest Subject panel sessions

Meeting Overview (2) High Interest Subjects (Panel Sessions) NGN – General (ETSI) Cybersecurity (ATIS) Home Networking (ITU)

GTSC-5 Overview Presentations Summary Presentation of GTSC-5 Summary Report (GSC13-GTSC6-17) Summary TTC was thanked for their presentation of this report

NGN – General (ETSI) Presentations Summary Resolution Contributions GSC13-GTSC6-02R2, -04, -11, -22; (-14 and -15 for information) Summary Efforts are underway towards coordinating all the NGN work across numerous SDOs and close collaboration needs to be continued. Work is occurring to apply NGN Standards to support various expanded services to meet user ambitions and service/network providers business plans. Technical standards for NGN interconnection of services must be available in a timely manner. Gap analysis and top-down approaches may be useful to help advance work in NGN. Resolution A drafting group was charged with revising the Resolution regarding Next Generation Networks (NGN) starting with the baseline text contained in GSC13-GTSC6-04. Following review, the revisions submitted by ETSI were approved by GTSC-6 as the Resolution to be submitted to the closing plenary for GSC approval.

Cybersecurity (ATIS) Presentations Summary Resolution Contributions GSC13-GTSC6-05, -07, -12 (-18 for information) Summary It was noted that Cybersecurity is currently one of the top priorities in the ITU. It is essential to have effective cooperation and collaboration across the many standards bodies doing Cybersecurity work. It is a considerable challenge to address security to enhance trust and confidence of users in networks, applications, and services. Security solutions have an impact on delay and performance and this challenge must be met to meet user expectations. Cybersecurity is a key element in the work on NGN. Resolution A drafting group was charged with revising the Resolution regarding Cybersecurity starting with the baseline text contained in GSC13-GTSC6-12a1. Following review, the text in GSC-13-GTSC6-12a1 was approved by GTSC-6 as the Resolution to be submitted to the closing plenary for GSC approval.

Home Networking (ITU) Presentations Summary Resolutions Contributions GSC13-GTSC6-06, -09, -13, -16R1, -20R1 (-08, -19 for information) Summary Home Networking is considered to have a high impact on end-to-end QoS/QoE management. Different network technologies have different QoS/QoE classes, performance parameters, and performance objectives that need specific standards developed. There is currently a gap between the formal responsibility of providers and the customers’ expectation of QoS and QoE; it will be necessary for standards developers to work together to minimize this gap. It may be necessary to examine several use cases in order to determine standards to provide QoS/QoE. It is critical to enable the delivery of a high quality user experience in a dynamic device and service rich environment. There is current work occurring on the guidelines for the implementation of security mechanisms in customer networks. PSOs are invited to support usable residential networking guidance towards users including a greener approach. Resolutions The existing Resolution, GSC12-20, regarding Home Networking was revised via live edits and the document as revised was approved by GTSC-6 as the Resolution to be submitted to the closing plenary for GSC approval.

WTSA-2008 The ITU-T Overview was presented in contribution GSC13-GTSC6-10R1. ITU-T was thanked for providing this input. It was noted that the ITU-T is likely to provide future recommendations towards conformance and interoperability testing. GSC13-GTSC6-21 was provided for information as a contribution to WTSA-2008.
