What is the Resource Center? Formerly CIMC, we have transitioned away from selling printed curriculum and are now finding and developing free resources for you

What is Labor Market Information (LMI)? The systematic collection, analysis, reporting, and publishing of a broad range of data that describes current economic conditions within a given area. It is also referred to as workforce information. —United States Department of Labor

What is Labor Market Information (LMI)? Wages/benefits Unemployment rate Skill requirements Career information Projections Demographics Geography Company downsizing and expansion Job opportunities Industry trends Demand and growth What data would you include in a needs assessment? Employment trends – are there going to be jobs? Job information – what skills and certifications are employers looking for? Wage projections – how much money are these people going to make? Demographics – who are our potential learners? Competition – who is already providing this training? Training gaps – are there already enough people being trained in this area? Who has this data for you? We do!

Free service from the Resource Center Data provided by Chmura Subscription Services Sources include Bureau of Labor Statistics Bureau of Economic Analysis National Center for Education Statistics O*Net™ Social Security Administration JobsEQ is a service we subscribe to Your data people may have heard of Chmura Subscription Services Data is pulled from multiple sources and updated regularly

What type of reports are available? Education/training Data on programs is available by CIP code (nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode)

Education/training Award Gaps Report Shortage or surplus of certifications/degrees For specific occupations, programs, or training concentrations Awards Report How many degrees/certificates were awarded in the previous academic year By occupation, school, or program

What type of reports are available? Education/training Education Report Report on a postsecondary program, including occupation crosswalk, awards granted, employment by industry, current job posts

This is one piece of data from the Education Report for the program Licensed Practical Nurse, showing the number of awards granted in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Statistical Area Note that it tells us where this data came from and when it was updated, and that it is available by CIP (Classification of Instructional Programs) number Sample: Education Report (Licensed Practical Nurse)

What type of reports are available? Industry Data on industries is available by NAICS code (census.gov/eos/www/naics/)

Industries Economic Impact Report Provides an overview of the effects an increase or decrease in employees or sales in a particular industry may have on a regional economy Industry/Occupation Mix Report Shows demand within a particular industry for the entire state or for a region, including current employment numbers, average wages, and forecast demand

Industries Industry Snapshot Shows historical and projected (one to ten years) employment numbers and wages for a particular industry and/or region Labor & Wage Trends Report Shows selected trends over a chosen timespan, for a particular regions or for the entire state, and for all industries or for a selected industry.

What type of reports are available? Occupations Data is available by SOC code At this time, information is only reported according to 2010 codes (bls.gov/soc/2010/home.htm) Some reports are also available by career cluster

Occupations Industry/Occupation Mix Report Shows demand within a particular industry for the entire state or for a region, including current employment numbers, average wages, and forecast demand (one to ten years) Occupation Characteristics Report Provides the number of people employed in each listed occupation, the growth forecast, and the typical level of education for that position.

Occupations Occupation Snapshot Report that describes the mix of occupations for a region, showing historical and projected employment numbers and wages for a particular occupation and/or region Occupation Wages Report Shows annual wages (mean, entry, experienced, etc.) for all occupations or for a particular occupation for the entire state or by region

Occupation Snapshot – gives current, historical, and projected employment numbers and average wages for an occupation or group of occupations in a specific region. Can be provided for a career cluster, for a broad occupational area (2-digit Standard Occupational Classification code), for specific occupations (6-digit), and in between. Sample: Occupation Snapshot Report (Healthcare Support Occupations)

What type of reports are available? Workforce Workforce reports are available for any region Demographic reports are available by industry or occupation

What type of reports are available? Workforce Demographic Profile A report breaking down current or historic demographic data for a region or the entire state, including population by age and race, population growth, labor force and participation rates, educational attainment, veteran status, foreign-born, unionization, disability rates, income and poverty levels, housing values and vacancy rates

Workforce Workforce Characteristics Report A report showing recent workforce data by region and/or industry, including regional industry demographics, turnover, hires, and separations, and wages and earnings in new and ongoing jobs Occupation Characteristics Report A report showing demographic information for those in a specific occupation

Demographic data – this is only a small section of the demographic report, it includes age, sex, race, veteran status, poverty level, education level, income, disability, foreign-born, English-speaking, single-parent families, etc. Request for data on internet access Sample: Demographic Report

What type of reports are available? A Little Bit of Everything RTI (Real Time Intelligence) Report Analysis of online job posts for a specific time span that can be sorted by required certifications, hard/soft skills, education, employer, occupation, job title, job location Data Explorer A customizable analytic that provides a deeper look at several data sets (industry, occupation, education, unemployment, population projections, GDP)

A Little Bit of Everything Economic Overview Report A report summarizing a regional economy, which includes several other reports on demographics, occupations, industries, and the workforce Maps Graphics that show various types of data by region, including demographic, industry, occupation, un/underemployment, awards, change in employment, commuting, and rural scale

What type of reports are available? A Little Bit of Everything Cluster Report A report comparing the growth and average income of the various Career Clusters in a region
