Hanahan High Counseling Edition 4 We hope everyone had a great Fall break. The end of the semester is quickly approaching as we prepare for the holidays! Here is the latest from your counseling department at Hanahahn High. Exams End Of Course Exams (EOCs), which are worth 20% of you grade, will take place the week of December 5-9. EOC’s are taken in the following courses: English 1, Algebra 1, Intermediate Algebra, Biology, U.S. History Final Exams are worth 10% of your grade. They will take place Thursday, December 14 for 3rd and 4th block and Friday, December 16 for 1st and 2nd Block. Some Stress Relieving Tips With exams coming up, and all the chaos of the holiday season, it is important to remember to take care of yourself and practice healthy study habits. Here are some ways you can do this: Self Care: Study Tips: Get enough sleep (at least 6-8 hours) Create the ideal study area (quiet, enough space, comfortable) Go for a walk (or get some form of exercise) Set aside time to relax Turn notes into flash cards Spend time with loved ones Snack healthy while you study Eat a balanced Diet For every hour that you study, take a 15 minute break Character word for October: Generosity Generosity: A willingness to give to others For the month of December, we are encouraging students to participate in a fundraising event taking place at the school or in the community. If you do so, take a selfie and email it or drop it off to Ms. Conley to have your picture posted on “Our ‘Selfie’less Acts” wall outside of guidance. Let’s fill up the wall during the month of December! Visit our webpage for more information Hanahan High School Counseling Scholarship and Financial Aid Information
