PSAT October 19th at CHS FEE: $14 Why take it? This scholarship competition awards approximately 8,200 scholarships annually. The selection process starts with the choosing of National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists and Commended Scholars. Cutoffs vary from state to state but typically Semi-Finalists score in the top one percent of students in their state and Commended Scholars between the top one to four percent. Most of the approximately 16,000 Semi-Finalists become Finalists, and half of those ultimately receive National Merit Scholarships. Even if you are not a finalists for a National Merit Scholarship, doing well on the test gives more opportunity for other university scholarships

ACT and SAT Tests should be taken junior year, especially if you are looking into scholarships, either through the school or individual scholarships Latest test date should be in June; anything later may not count toward admissions ACT- www.actstudent.org SAT- www.collegeboard.org

ACT Test Dates and Registration Deadlines:

Going into the military? Have you taken the ASVAB? Have you meet with any military recruiters? Have you narrowed down what branch you are thinking of? Signing early (summer going into senior year)

College bound athletes…. NCAA Clearinghouse

A few more things… Scholarships- check Naviance and CHS website for dates Recruiters- sign up in the career center to meet with colleges Important Dates- be mindful of dates this year. For example, if you are interested in attending UNM this year the deadline to apply for free is October 6th and to qualify for any scholarships your application must be in by December 1st….
