Wednesday and Thursday, May 8 and 9, 2013 Daily Learning Target: I can create a scoring guide for On-Demand. I can compose an On-Demand essay with a partner in order to prepare for the EOC. I can score an on-demand using the scoring guide.

ACT Bell Ringer Read the questions first, then read the passage. Answer the questions on your own paper. Be able to justify your answer. If you get the question incorrect, please write the justification for the correct answer.

Partner Work With your partner, discuss the elements of the On-Demand Criteria. Fill in for each bullet what you think will be the criteria you will be scored on Discuss responses Clarify misconceptions

Writing Activity Use the graphic organizer to outline/plan your writing. Dissect your prompt What is the prompt asking you to do? What form are you writing? Who will be your audience? Read the passage Be sure to make note of important ideas while you are reading. (number, underline, circle, make notes…whatever works for YOU)

Group Work Cont. Use the graphic organizer to plan your writing. Be sure to include a strong thesis. Give background information Include transitions Include claim, evidence, and commentary. Include counter argument IF it is persuasive/argumentative Include a strong conclusion You will be timed.
