La conjugaison des verbes Les verbes en –er réguliers

THE INFINITIVE – WHAT IS IT? It is the BASIC FORM of the verb. The infinitive is often identified in English by the word to preceding it. The LARGEST group of French infinitives are those that END in er. When verbs are in a group (like the er verbs) they ALL conjugate with the SAME endings! NOW LETS TALK ABOUT VERBS!

When conjugating a regular verb (ex: aimer) you MUST… Drop the ending (er) -- aimer Take the new stem (part of the verb without the er ending) and add the appropriate ending for the subject. CONJUGATING Where do I begin? STEM

For regular verbs, it is VERY important to know which endings match with which subjects. For les verbes « er » the endings are… Je (e) Nous (ons) Tu (es)Vous (ez) Il /Elle (e) Ils /Elles (ent) Completing the puzzle

ALL REGULAR –er verbs, the singular subject pattern is: Aimer = Aimer = aim Je – STEM + eJ aime Tu – STEM + esTu aimes Il – STEM + e Il aime Elle – STEM + eElle aime THE PRONOUNS AND THEIR ENDINGS

For ALL REGULAR –er verbs, the plural subject pattern is: Aimer = aimer = Aim Nous – STEM + onsNous aimons Vous – STEM + ezVous aimez Ils – STEM + entIls aiment Elles – STEM + entElles aiment THE PRONOUNS AND THEIR ENDINGS

AIMER(to like) Drop the –er ending The STEM is aim JaimeNous aimons Tu aimesVous aimez Il aimeIls aiment Elle aimeElles aiment AND ONE MORE…
