“Tee-bo”, 1920-present, Mesa, Arizona, USA WAYNE THIEBAUD “Tee-bo”, 1920-present, Mesa, Arizona, USA

American Painter, Pop Artist Widely known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects especially food. Thiebaud is associated with the Pop Art movement because of his interest in objects of mass culture. Most of his famous works pre- date other Pop Artists (1950’s). He prefers not to be associated with a particular movement and calls himself “ just an old- fashioned painter”. He has said he doesn’t like Warhol’s work and called it “flat and mechanical”.

Thiebaud Thiebaud’s work can be seen in many museums the closet to us being New York, Buffalo and Washington D.C. He was awarded the National Medal of Arts by president Bill Clinton in 1994. His most recent work was created in 2010, when he designed the 12th birthday cake design for Google at age 90. He is currently 95.

(Getting out air bubbles, the ½ inch rule, venting your piece). Aka How to stop your ceramics from blowing up in the kiln! We will also cover clay methods you could use: Pinch method Coil method Slab building These can be combined
