2 Early American Artists
“Most of early American art (from the late 18th century through the early 19th century) consists of history painting and especially portraits.” John Singleton Copley, Paul Revere, c. 1768–70, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Copley was acclaimed as the Finest artist of Colonial America. Benjamin West,  The Treaty of Penn with the Indians, 1771–72, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Gilbert Stuart, George Washington, , 1796,  Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is his most celebrated and famous work. He Created a uniquely American portrait style.

was an American painter, illustrator & sculptor. His work portrayed the life of cowboys and Native Americans on the Plains. From a young age, O’Keeffe was determined To become an artist. 5 American Photographer
Ansel Adams was the most important landscape photographer of the 1900s. He is probably the best known and most loved American photographer. He specialized in photographing untouched wilderness. He worked to preserve natural areas. His work raised photography to an art form. Ansel Adams Church, Acoma Pueblo

7 John J. Audubon April 26, 1785 – January 27, 1851
Audubon was an ornithologist (a person who studies birds), painter and illustrator. His pictures illustrated all types of American birds in their natural habitats.

8 Louis Tiffany Best known for his stained glass .
One of the pieces is displayed at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.

9 Norman Rockwell “Norman Rockwell illustrated covers for The Saturday Evening Post for 47 years. The public loved his often-humorous depictions of American life.” biography.com

10 Walt Disney Walt Disney was a pioneer of the animation industry. He created many beloved characters including Mickey Mouse.

11 Jacob Lawrence ( ) Known as a great artist, storyteller, historian and art teacher. He was an African- American artist who painted important historical events and scenes from every day life.

12 Andy Warhol One of the most well known American artists of our time. He was the leader of the pop art movement. Sometimes known as the Prince or Pope of Pop Art. His paintings and illustrations were based on modern culture.
