R ecycling Definition: To put or pass through a cycle again, as for further treatment. Thank You I just Recycled! I just Recycled! Metals: Recycling 1 aluminum can saves enough energy to run a tv for 3 hours. Paper: To produce each week's Sunday newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down. Plastic: Americans use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour. Glass: A modern glass bottle would take 4000 years or more to decompose. 75% of our trash can be recycled!

W aste Definition: Waste, rubbish, trash, garbage, or junk is unwanted or undesired material jpg Nearly everything we do leaves waste behind. In 2006, Americans generated about 251 million tons of trash and recycled 82 million tons of materials, which is 32.5 %. These materials range from packaging, food scraps, and grass clippings to old sofas, computers, tires, and refrigerators.

What we must do to Save our Earth Recycle Waste Conserve Energy and waste products Consume less harmful products We should tell our friends and neighbors about the harm waste causes the earth. We need to remind them to choose products wisely. We need to recycle all materials we can! Recycling Drop-off Centers The City has three convenient recycling centers to use if you miss a recycling collection day. These centers are located at H-E-B parking lots at Leopard & Violet, Alameda & McCall; and are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The third location is at the Citizens Collection Center at the J.C. Elliott Landfill and is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

How to Recycle Labels do NOT need to be removed from bottles or containers. Remove and dispose of lids from metal, plastic bottles, jars & cans. Food containers should be clean (rinsed) for your sanitation. Keep newspaper dry & separate it from other types of paper. You may separately bag or box mixed paper & cardboard. Pizza boxes, glass, light bulbs, drinking glasses, dishes & mirrors are NOT recyclable.

What to Recycle Paper: newspapers Mixed paper: unwanted mail & envelopes, magazines, catalogs and phone books, paperboard boxes, shoe boxes & other similar paper, cardboard Glass: is NOT accepted Metal: aluminum and tin or steel metal soft drink cans beverage cans food containers aerosol spray cans aluminum foil and trays Plastic: (bottles/ containers) soap, shampoo or soft drink bottles detergent containers food containers marked with a #1 or #2 recycling symbol
