India Role of the Citizen: Personal Freedoms: 18 years of age; men and women Personal Freedoms: Freedom of speech, assembly, religion

China All candidates are chosen by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Type of Government: Communist Form of Leadership: Chief of State: President Elected by National People's Congress for a five-year term (eligible for a second term) Head of Government: Premier Nominated by president, confirmed by National People's Congress All candidates are chosen by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party)

China Personal Freedoms: Role of the Citizen: 18 years of age; men and women Personal Freedoms: Detention, forced confessions, torture, and mistreatment of prisoners Severe restrictions on freedom of speech, the press, assembly, association, religion, privacy, worker rights, and birth limits. The Chinese Government recognizes five official religions--Buddhism, Islam, Taoism, Catholicism, and Protestantism--and seeks to regulate religious groups and worship.
