Variables Variables are factors that may change during an experiment Several trials should be conducted with only one variable being changed through all of the trials Independent variable is the variable being changed There should only be one independent variable being changed during an experiment

Variables (cont) Dependent variable is a variable that changes in response to the change in the independent variable Control variable is a variable that is being kept constant between the trials Control experiment is the experiment that you compare your results to so you can measure the change in the dependent variable
