Lays out the process for developing an essay in a very graphic way. What can EssayMap do? Prompts Language Arts students (grades 3-12) to articulate the different areas for an argument or position on an issue. Lays out the process for developing an essay in a very graphic way. Offers multiple ways to navigate information, including a “graphic” in the upper right-hand corner, that allows students to move around the map without having to work in a linear fashion. Gives reasons for an opinion and outlines each reason the writer will use to support their thesis statement and clearly state what is being discussed. Implements the writing process (introduction, main ideas, supporting details and conclusion) and shows ways to apply it.

How can students use EssayMap? Work in small groups to record findings and use this graphic organizer to write paragraphs and create a paper. Helps to layout a classic five-paragraph essay. In The Classroom or At Home: EssayMap introduces a technique to help students organize their thoughts and begin the preliminary steps for planning an essay. This tool makes writing easier by brainstorming and jotting down ideas to help visualize the relationships between various ideas. Prewriting and researching becomes a breeze because it provides students with the necessary steps to help persuade their audience on a given topic. Helps students to understand the purpose of a persuasive essay and can assess their understanding of a particular topic / subject. Ensures the writer has enough information or research to complete the task and to understand the arguments being made.
