MYP Learner Profile Traits IB Learner Profile - The aim of all IB programs is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing our common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. Inquirers - They ask a lot of questions and want to know the answers to things they do not understand. They love learning about new ideas and concepts. Knowledgeable - They become “experts” after learning about a particular topic. They may use this in-depth knowledge to gain even greater understanding of the original topic or other related topics.   Thinkers - They spend time figuring out the best way to fix a problem or make a good decision. Communicators - They are skilled at expressing their points of view to others. They may do this in a variety of different ways (speaking, writing, drawing). Principled - They are admired because they “do the right thing” no matter what the cost. They take responsibility for their own actions and will face the consequences of those actions if necessary. Open-minded - They are accepting of others no matter how different they are. They are open to the values and traditions of others. They are willing to listen to the opinions of other people. They are fair and non-judgmental of things that may be different or foreign to them. Caring - They show compassion and respect toward others. They want to make a positive difference in the lives of others and to the environment. Risk-takers - They are courageous when a situation may seem intimidating. They like to explore new places, roles, and ideas. They are brave in defending their beliefs. Balanced - They understand the importance of excelling in many different areas of life (ie. school, sports, friends, family) Reflective - They spend time thinking about their experiences. They are able to point out their own strengths and weaknesses.
