Merritt Brown Middle School 2018-2019 Title I Annual Meeting Merritt Brown Middle School 2018-2019

What is Title I? Title I, Part A, is a federal program that provides funds to assist schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

Merritt Brown Middle School is a Title I school and received $98,556 for the 2018-19 school year.

How did we decide to use these funds? We analyzed our latest academic, discipline, and attendance data. We determined the areas of greatest need. We looked for barriers that prevented our students from making the achievement they needed. We developed the following strategies:

Area of Focus 1: Reading and Math Expenditures: Tutorials, paras, summer planning, instructional supplies, teacher training, parent communications, and events Area of Focus 2: Attendance Expenditures: Parent Liaison Area of Focus 3: Discipline Expenditures: Behavioral paraprofessional, behavior curriculum, training

2018-19 Goals 1. Increase the percentage of students making learning gains in both reading and math over 2017. 2. Decrease the percentage of students absent ten or more days in 2018-19 as compared to 2017-18. 3. Decrease Office Discipline Referrals (ODR) by 10%, or 120, from 2017-18

2017-18 Goals and Outcomes Goal:  The number of chronically absent students from 16-17 will decline by 2% for 17-18.  Outcome: Not met – there was an increase.  Goal: The number of students proficient in math will increase by 2% from 2017 FSA to 2018 FSA. Outcome:  Met – increased from 44% to 46%.

We need your help to reach our 2018-19 goals!!!

Parent involvement has more impact on student achievement than any other factor!

What can you do???
