Agenda 10/8 Reminders: Syntax Notes AP MC Practice Essay small group discussions Begin reading Act II Reminders: Finish reading Act II and Mather’s Writing Complete journal synthesizing the two writings NOTE: Circle discussion tomorrow

Syntax #1 Independent clause; transition word, independent clause. I do think Jurassic Park is one of the best movies created; however, reviving the extinct dinosaurs will never occur. In the novel The Crucible, Abigail is a manipulative 17 year old girl; however, historically she was 11 years old and far less to blame for the disasters of the witch trials. Students who study for their tests often pass; therefore, you should study for your test. When I was young, my family always supported my love for dance; therefore, I have never wavered in my pursuit of the arts.

Background The people, events, politics, religion, economics, infrastructure, and other influences that created an environment where man-made disasters could occur.

Background Discussion Groups will complete the following, 25 minutes: Discuss the following questions while jotting down notes for future reference: What information has historical significance to the background causes? What political influences shaped the background causes? What religious influences shaped the background causes? What economic influences shaped the background causes? What infrastructure influences shaped the background causes? What 5 people, events, problems, etc. were the primary elements that created an environment where the disaster could occur. List these in chronological order – in a timeline of sorts. Is there additional information that the research group needs to find? 10 minutes: Write a reflection answering the prompt – What primary elements created an environment apt for the man-made disaster?
