HAPPY MONDAY WHAP You will need your journals today! Mysteriously, there were several missing projects and or projects with no name. Best to check your grade. The activities we are doing today and tomorrow are the set up for your essay on Wednesday. If you don’t make an effort to do them, you will probably be pretty lost!

2 Select key events/ happenings from the first three periods we have studied. Key happenings 1-3 should be things from the Paleolithic period Key happenings 4-7 from the Neolithic revolution/River Civ Key happenings 8-10 from the classical period

5 The prompt: Evaluate the extent to which the Neolithic Revolution can be considered a turning point in world history.  In the development of your argument, explain what changed and what stayed the same from the period before the Neolithic Revolution to the period immediately following. (Periodization)

X is your counter argument (contrary evidence) A,B, and C are the primary pieces of evidence to support your argument. Y is your overall argument. To get this point MAKE SURE YOUR THESIS ARGUMENT ANSWERS THE PROMPT!

8 To get one point: Make sure your essay gives SPECIFIC pieces of evidence to support your claims. (people/places/dates/etc) EG: Don’t just say “plants and animals were domesticated”. Describe what kinds of plants and animals were domesticated. Introduce with words like “such as”, “for example”, or “as can be seen by…..”

9 To get this point Be sure the things you talk about in your essay match up with what you claimed in your thesis Be sure the pieces of evidence you used actually support your argument? Don’t wander off topic!

10 To get one point: Prove that this particular period is different from the period before it Prove that this particular period is different from the period after it For another point: Describe why this particular period is historically important

11 To get one point do ONE of these: A: Explain how the significance of this period is similar to the significance of another time period B: Explain how the things you have discussed in the essay are related to another topic area. (If you covered Political and economic topics, add a social topic that is connected) C: Explain how this topic applies to the development of another field of study (Science for example)
