Dare To Be Different SPBA Gala Dinner 6 September 2014

Celebrating 5 years There are those who seek to forge their own paths, challenge the norm and rise to greatness through their ‘dare to dream’ attitude. The night of 6 September 2014 sees the spotlight thrown onto the Shoalhaven for a celebration of those who ‘Dare to be Different.’ The Shoalhaven Professional Business Association will showcase achievement, perseverance and a ‘dare to be different’ attitude. It will cement the growing recognition that the region is a powerhouse of leaders, future leaders and business innovation. With a delectable 3-course meal from local chefs, honorary guest speaker, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, AM, CSC, RAN, Chief of Navy (from 4 July), and guest speaker; Dr Pia Winberg, plus the chance to mix with the regions’ elite….do you dare to be different?

And, we are celebrating 5 years spba SPBA links business and people in the Shoalhaven to grow its professional industry sector. We promote business and create career opportunities for our members through education, networking and building alliances. We continue to build awareness around SPBA and attract new and existing professional talent from within and outside the Shoalhaven region. And, we are celebrating 5 years

Business Hero – is this for you? Shine your spotlight - be a Shoalhaven Education Fund Hero! 10 Businesses will be spba Shoalhaven Education Fund Heroes in 2014. The Shoalhaven Education Fund (SEF) provides grants to our future leaders; young people 17-21 years, to enable opportunities to pursue new careers or studies after leaving school. SEF is not for profit Managed and operated through volunteers 100% of funds go directly to recipients – who are all from the Shoalhaven Grants are allocated for specific items such as books, travel/transport, tuition fees, uniforms or tools of trade. Cash is not paid in advance but is reimbursed on production of receipts or is paid directly to a third party. $10,000 allocated to 16 students in 2013/14 $7,000 allocated to 13 students in 2012/13

About Vice Admiral Tim Barrett, AM, CSC, RAN Tim Barrett attended Bomaderry High School. Appointed Commander Australian Fleet (COMAUSFLT) in December 2011 Appointed to Vice Admiral and Chief of Navy in July 2014 The Chief of Navy is the most senior appointment in the Royal Australian Navy, responsible to the Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) and the Secretary of Defence. In 2006, he was awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross for service in command of HMAS Albatross and made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2009 for his services to Navy.

About Dr Pia Winberg   Pia and her family have made the Shoalhaven their new home Pia has been working across both industry development and academia for the past 15 years and has a background is in marine systems ecology. Pia’s main research interest is in marine food production systems that are sustainably integrated with the coastal and marine environment. As a result, her published research efforts span aquaculture and sustainable estuarine systems. Pia has developed a focus on the development of seaweed cultivation systems for Australia and has been the key driver of Seaweeds Australia, a national network of research and industry partners to coordinate and promote the development of vertically integrated seaweed industries in Australia.

Gala Dinner Ticket Sales Spba Hero Table (10 only available) $1,500 You receive: A table for your business with ten seats. Your business name and logo will be prominently displayed on the table. Our ten heroes will be acknowledged in the program on the evening and verbally by our Emcee. A wonderful opportunity to reward your own hero clients or people to join you in being an spba Hero business. $500 of your table investment is paid direct to the Shoalhaven Education Fund (a Shoalhaven not for profit organisation) The Shoalhaven Education Fund will acknowledge your support throughout the year in its promotional flyers. Your business will be invited to the SEF Annual Grants event and you will be able to present your Grant to your young recipient. You will be able to acknowledge your community leadership with investing in our future tall poppies on your marketing and promotional material and website.
