2 Strategic Plan Vision The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce is the preeminent Northern Virginia membership organization for businesses to grow through relationship building with stakeholders and through engagement in partnerships throughout the Metropolitan Washington Region. Mission The Northern Virginia Chamber offers business development opportunities to organizations interested in growth through knowledge, access and influence in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Metropolitan Washington Region. The Chamber leads the business community by: engaging in thought leadership; strengthening industry knowledge; advocating for business positions; and supporting key partnerships.

3 Strategic Plan Goals I. Attract, engage and retain a diverse, influential and engaged membership. Diversity metrics to be measured: industry, geography, ethnicity, gender and size. Measures will include: 120 New Members annually Significant New Members in targeted industries Increased retention rates Increase board members leads Increase Executive Committee and Board of Directors Diversity Increase influence by adding 3 new Elite Partners annually

4 Strategic Plan Goals II. Become the preeminent leader on regional economic advancement issues, including diversification, transportation, and workforce development. Measures will include: “C” level Executive engagement Participation of ‘A’ list of regional leaders Match NVCC legislative agenda long-term strategy including sophistication of issues Increase in # of media impression on regional priorities/issues Increased recognition for leadership efforts on regional priorities Participation in collaborative events

5 Strategic Plan Goals III. Meet and exceed financial goals to ensure fiscal sustainability and to drive investment and growth opportunities. Measures will include: Revenue Growth Net Assets Growth Cash Reserve Growth

8 Priorities Volunteer Membership Leadership – the Chamber will continue its leadership commitment to the region by pursuing leaders as members from across the Northern Virginia business community to be inclusive of all regional points of view. Membership will include a diversity by geography, size and industry as well as gender and ethnicity of ownership. The Chamber will adapt membership offerings to encourage membership in these diverse organizations. Enhancing a Stronger Regional Voice – the Chamber will develop an organization that can carry the regional business community’s voice and concerns to all elected and appointed bodies across Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth. We will develop an advocacy voice and communications platform to deliver persuasive fact-based data to support regional growth. Strengthening the Regional Economy – the Chamber will develop programs, partnerships, initiatives and recognition of growth opportunity industry sectors across the region. We will collaborate with other business organizations, academic institutions, elected officials and media outlets to improve the content output of the Chamber.

9 Priorities Improving Regional Core Infrastructure Services – the Chamber will support excellence in delivering core services deemed necessary in a great community. Those services include education, health care, transportation, utilities plus a trained & resourceful workforce. Improve the Sense of Regional Community – the Chamber will encourage the sense of collaboration between business organizations, elected bodies, academic institutions and non-profit organizations to enable a world-class community. We will work to breakdown arbitrary barriers to cooperation.
