What are Method Statements? A method statement is a written document that essentially details a safe system of work and identifies the conceivable hazards that may arise during the work that is undertaken. In NZ Method statements are usually provided to the principal contractor by the sub- contractor(s). The Method statement should explain in detail the work that is to be undertaken by the sub contractor and the necessary remedial measures that need to be in place in order to protect the site workforce and in some cases members of the pubic who may be affected by work actions. >>DEPARTMENT OF CONTRUCTION

What Should a Methodology Statement Include? There are many definitions of “ PROJECT but one of the common words used is UNIQUE Because all projects are unique, it is impossible to have a Universal Template that will fit situations. All methodology statements must therefore be job or site specific. Unique job = Unique method statement >>DEPARTMENT TITLE EDIT IN HEADER & FOOTER

However it should include the following segments as a minimum: 1.Basic Job Information 2. Trade Details 3. Detailed Method of Work 4. Risk and H&S Assessments 5. Plant/Equipment required 6. Operative Competence required 7. Drawings/Sketches which are required for clarification 8. Provision for Monitoring and Review >>DEPARTMENT TITLE EDIT IN HEADER & FOOTER

Sections 1,2,4 to 8 require filling the job details and general items and confirmation of requirements. Section 3 needs filling in a lot of descriptive detail EXPLAIN to the client how you intend to build their project. Communicate your intended PLAN so they understand the sequence, zoning , phasing and are confident you can complete project according to their requirements. >>DEPARTMENT TITLE EDIT IN HEADER & FOOTER

Methodology for Construction A construction methodology is a detailed description of the systems to be employed by the main contractor to complete the project in the most effective way in accordance with the unique site constraints of the project: This narrative is concerned with sequence and co ordination not TIME Use Sketch or drawings- include appropriate drawings ,include a site layouts >>DEPARTMENT OF CONTRUCTION
