2 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations This unit will help you to:  understand the information needs of organisations  understand how organisations, both large and small, public and commercial, are structured  understand how developments in technology affect how organisations collect information and how that information flows within and between organisations  understand how developments in technology affect why and how organisations present information  consider how ICT systems support different activities or functions within organisations  evaluate the effectiveness of ICT systems in helping organisations achieve their goals ABOUT THE UNIT

3 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations You will look briefly into:  Different types of organisations and their structure  Functions within organisations  Information and it’s use  ICT systems  The effects of developments in ICT on working styles GENERIC RESEARCH

4 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations You will look into an ICT system that is in use:  How the system is used  Its input -> process -> output  How it helps the organisation meet it’s data handling needs in terms of the organisations purpose TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF ORGANISATION

5 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations You will look choose a client organisation and write a report detailing:  Type of organisation  Functions within the organisation  Information needs of the organisation  How one specific ICT system handles the information needs of the organisation by referring in detail to its inputs, processing, outputs and the methods of communication used by the system  The way that the ICT system helps the organisation to meet its purpose and goals  The effects of development in ICT on the organisations working styles REPORT

6 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations Your report will:  Have a draft version that you have annotated for spelling, grammatical and layout errors using recognised proofreading symbols  Be free from spelling and grammatical errors  Free from technical language and where technical language is used the terms explained  Have a sources log  Have a front cover, contents page, index, glossary, captions on images, table of images, footnote, header and footer that reflects author, report content and section headings and numbered logical sections  A statement of copyright REPORT

7 Unit 2 – ICT In Organisations You will:  Describe the actions taken to solve the problem and show a clear understanding of what you have done and why  Show clearly how the changes made have improved your portfolio  Identify qualitative and quantitative evaluation criteria that are appropriate for assessing whether client needs have been met and testing taking full account of the evaluation criteria  Evaluate the formal report and successfully identify strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement  Draw meaningful conclusions from your evaluation and made appropriate changes to the formal report as a result EVALUATION
