THE BLACK DOUGLAS

The Black Douglas 4/2/19 AIM – Learn how Bruce used his supporters to fight separate campaigns on his behalf. SUCCESS CRITERIA – Be able to describe the role of the Black Douglas in fighting English rule. Be able to explain why the Black Douglas grew such a feared reputation. Be able to assess the most importance of the Douglas to Bruce’s efforts. TASKS Copy today’s aim and heading into your jotter. Recap the steps Bruce took to reinvigorate his campaign for the throne in 1307. What was the most significant action/event of 1307 to further Bruce’s aims? Discuss through plenary the answer to last lesson’s ‘big question(s)’. Today, as a class read through the handout worksheet on the Douglas Larder and discuss Douglas’ achievements.
