Bellringer Get your paper from the desk at the front of the room. Look over your writing from yesterday and make any edits you notice need to be made after a day away from your writing.

You Will Need… Writing utensils The Proofreading Guide on page 215 of your purple guide book An essay from a peer (your teacher will pass them out) The essay Rubric (from your teacher) You Will Need…

Peer Editing—You have 15 minutes! Proofread your peer’s paper by following the proofreading guidelines on page 215 of your purple guidebook.

Now that you have some feedback… Look at the rubric and self-score each category by circling the number you think you should receive. Once you finish, you should begin re-drafting your essay to make it the best it can possibly be! If you have questions about how to improve your work, then let your teacher know. Now that you have some feedback…

To Do Today: Finish your writing. Have a peer edit your paper using page 215. Edit/revise your writing based on feedback (BEST effort). Self-assess your writing based on the rubric you received at the beginning of class. Staple your rubric to your paper and turn it in (either today or Monday). PROMPT: Write an essay that identifies the central idea of “Hope, andDespair, and Memory” analyzes HOW each section of the text develops the central idea and reveals Wiesel’s purpose in writing the text.
