Samsung Digital Signage Introducing MagicInfo Pro

Introduction to MagicInfo Pro What is Samsung MagicInfo Pro? Samsung MagicInfo Pro is a software and computer hardware system within specialized network compatible LCD monitors, allowing transmission of media and office files across a standard Ethernet local area networks, from a computer with installed MagicInfo Pro software. MagicInfo Pro consists of two parts: The MagicInfo Pro software built into the Samsung LCD display MagicInfo Pro server software installed on a networked PC Display with MagicInfo Pro Computer with MagicInfo Pro Software Media and Office Files

Introduction to MagicInfo Pro What MagicInfo Pro Does: Without MagicInfo Pro With MagicInfo Pro PC+ Monitor MagicInfo Pro Client 1 MagicInfo Pro Client 2 MagicInfo Pro Client 3 MagicInfo Pro Client 4 MagicInfo Pro Client 5 MagicInfo Pro Server PC LAN Multiple displays with a computer connected to each unit. Multiple displays with a single computer connected by MagicInfo Pro. MagicInfo Pro offers a cost effective solution for a multi display network up to 50 displays Removes need to integrate PC/player into display system Eliminates multiple sources and distribution Provides easy content scheduling, power on/off, and input selection by server PC Simple configuration through LAN (100base-T Ethernet)

The MagicInfo Pro Network Samsung MagicInfo Pro relies on an Ethernet based Local Area Connection (LAN) network to transmit and receive data. The display can be connected in several ways, explained in the following slides: Display and Server PC connected to an existing network. Display and Server PC connected directly. Multiple displays connected to a network with a single server PC. Multiple displays, and multiple server PCs connected together. Multiple systems connected into a larger network via WAN. MagicInfo Pro Client 1 MagicInfo Pro Client 2 MagicInfo Pro Client 3 MagicInfo Pro Client 4 MagicInfo Pro Client 5 MagicInfo Pro Server PC LAN

The MagicInfo Pro Network The display can be connected to an existing LAN, via Ethernet cables. This will typically involve plugging a cable that connects to a hub, switch, or router into the display’s network port, and another cable to the server PC’s network port, as illustrated below. Display with MagicInfo Pro Computer with MagicInfo Pro Software Network Switch/Hub/Router

The MagicInfo Pro Network The display can be connected directly to a server PC, using a specific kind of Ethernet cable, called a “crossover cable” this will allow the server PC to “talk” directly to the MagicInfo Pro display, without any other network equipment or computers in between. Note: A crossover cable is NOT a standard network cable. Using a standard cable will not connect the two devices. A crossover cable is built differently, internally wired specifically to let two networked devices “talk”. If you connect the display and server PC directly with a standard network cable, they will not think they are connected at all. Display with MagicInfo Pro Computer with MagicInfo Pro Software “Crossover” Ethernet Cable

The MagicInfo Pro Network Up to 50 MagicInfo Pro equipped monitors can be connected to a single computer via a LAN, as we have previously discussed, and files can be transmitted to any monitor over the local area network. You connect the displays and server PC to the network as you would if you had only one display in the system, and the MagicInfo Pro software will identify and allow you to address multiple displays. MagicInfo Pro Client 1 MagicInfo Pro Client 2 MagicInfo Pro Client 3 MagicInfo Pro Client 4 MagicInfo Pro Client 5 MagicInfo Pro Server PC LAN

The MagicInfo Pro Network You can also connect more than one server PC to your MagicInfo Pro system. The displays and server PCs connect to the network as previously discussed. When there is more than one “server” (source computer with MagicInfo Pro software on the network), the display can be directed to download it’s content from a specific server, and receive a schedule from that server PC. MagicInfo Pro Client 1 MagicInfo Pro Client 2 MagicInfo Pro Client 3 MagicInfo Pro Client 4 MagicInfo Pro Client 5 MagicInfo Pro Server PC A LAN MagicInfo Pro Server PC B MagicInfo Pro Client 6 For example: In the diagram to the left, there are 6 MagicInfo Pro displays, and 2 server PCs. MagicInfo Pro Clients 1,3, and 5 are configured to connect to Server PC A, where Clients 2,4, and 6 are configured to communicate with Server B.

MagicInfo Pro Content Samsung MagicInfo Pro is designed to allow the user to show files from the connected MagicInfo Pro server PC onto the MagicInfo Pro display. MagicInfo Pro allows the use of several types of files: Photos and Image files Music (audio) files Movie (video) files Office/HTML files Adobe Flash and PDF files RSS feeds External inputs MagicInfo Pro also offers the user a web browser for Internet access when the display is connected to a network with an active Internet connection.

MagicInfo Pro Content Sources for MagicInfo Pro Content: Photo (image) Files Typically, these files are photos taken from digital cameras, scanned materials, computer generated graphics, images saved from the Internet, etc. Music (audio) Files Music or sound files can be captured from a CD, recorded by a PC, or downloaded from online resources like Apple’s iTunes music store. Movie (video) Files Movie or video files are usually video clips captured from DVD or TV sources, or video produced specifically for computer use. Office/HTML/Flash Files MagicInfo Pro can view files produced from Microsoft’s Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as viewing saved HTML and Flash files from the Internet. MagicInfo Pro can also view documents created with Adobe’s Acrobat program. RSS Feeds RSS feeds are text news items from a website, updated automatically by an internet connection.

MagicInfo Pro Content MagicInfo Pro Samsung MagicInfo Pro supports many file formats: Movie (video): MagicInfo Pro supports MPEG-1 and 2 video file formats, and WMV video files. Photo (images): MagicInfo Pro supports both the JPEG and BMP image file formats, as long as the resolution does not exceed 3500x2625. The digital camera EXIF file format is not supported, unless it is input from a Samsung digital camera. Music (audio): MagicInfo Pro supports only the MP3 file format. Office/HTML/Flash: MagicInfo Pro supports Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint formats, as well as HTML and Adobe Acrobat PDF and Flash files. A reader must be installed before using these features. MagicInfo Pro

MagicInfo Pro Content MagicInfo Pro Additional codecs and readers may be required for certain video, audio, and office file types. These codecs and readers may be installed on the MagicInfo Pro display as needed, in the same manner as they would be installed on a PC. Examples: To play a DIVX based video file, the user would need to install the proper DIVX codec on the display prior to use. To view an Adobe Acrobat PDF document, the user would need to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader software. MagicInfo Pro

MagicInfo Pro Server Software The MagicInfo Pro software must be installed on a PC connected to the same network as the MagicInfo Pro display, or connected directly to the MagicInfo Pro display, as previously discussed. The MagicInfo Pro software allows the user to “register” a library of files for use by the MagicInfo Pro display. The software also allows the user to schedule content to be viewed on the MagicInfo Pro display. Using the MagicInfo Pro software, a user can control the connected MagicInfo Pro display. MagicInfo Pro Server Software

MagicInfo Pro Server Software The MagicInfo Pro server software content system is based around the concept of templates or “screens”. Each piece of scheduled content, or combination of pieces, must be assembled into a template file. This file is what tells the display what content is displayed, and how it is laid out.

MagicInfo Pro Server Software MagicInfo Pro’s template creator allows you to create boxes for photos, videos, Flash files, websites, text scrolls, and external video sources. These boxes can have numerous special effects applied. Boxes can be assigned as slide shows or playlists for multiple content files of the same type. A single box can be assigned to play audio for that template, or a background audio can be added. More sophisticated templates can be created by layering content types.

MagicInfo Pro Server Software Once a template is created, it can be assigned to play on any display, or combinations of displays, available on the MagicInfo network. These can be set to run for durations as short as 1 minute, and as long as is desired, either as a single event, or on a user controlled repeat. Content will be “published” out to the network – It is sent to the display for playback. This sends the template and content to the display, for the duration of that template’s schedule.

MagicInfo Pro Server Software A template can be saved, and transferred to other MagicInfo servers. Templates and content can also be saved, and transferred manually to the display via USB, for local playback without network use. Design screen template Create content schedule Save schedule to USB Copy to display or play directly from USB

MagicInfo Pro Server Software MagicInfo Pro, by default, stores content on the display’s built in storage to minimize network traffic. However, streaming also supported, on a file by file basis. This can be enabled in the template creation application inside the MagicInfo Pro Server software. MagicInfo Pro Server File Transmitted via download or streaming

MagicInfo Pro Server Software Server PC Required Hardware Operating System: Windows 2000/XP/Vista CPU: 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon RAM: 256 Mb Network: 10/100Base-T Ethernet Hard Drive: over 10 gigabytes of storage free Recommended Hardware CPU: 3.0 GHz and up Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon RAM: 512 Mb and up

Samsung MagicInfo Pro Displays In addition to the standard inputs available on Samsung’s other LCD displays, MagicInfo Pro displays offer three USB ports and one RJ45 Ethernet port. These ports are used for connecting USB storage devices, keyboards, and mice, as well as connecting the MagicInfo Pro display to the network. RJ45 x1 USB x3

Thanks for Attending! SA950/TA950 Monitor is both iconic and sophisticated design product. Asymmetrical structure with curved comprehensive design gives both unexpected and characteristic beauty about it. Extremely thin panel that extends down to the lower part of monitor makes elegant curve and a strong contrast between black front and silver back panel gives unforgettable impression to the consumers. Additionally, the metal back panel that flows to the bottom of the monitor both deliver the elegance and modernity of the silver-metal. This thus allows the monitor to be enjoyed as an exquisite objet from whichever the angle the monitor is observed from.
