iBlog Training FHS

Go to dearbornschools.org and select iBlog

Login with your district Username and Password

Select – Create a Blog Unless you already have created one

Give your blog a Name – only lowercase letter and numbers (no spaces or symbols). Ex. mrfarhoudsclass Give your Blog a Title – Ex: Mr. Farhoud’s Class Decide whether you want it to appear on search engines?

You will then be provided with the web address of your new blog. Click on the web address and you will be take to your blog’s dashboard.

Examine some of the menu items appearing at the top of the screen then move onto the dashboard and Appearance

Select – Appearance on the Dashboard menu and to create a theme (look) for your blog.

Examine the different themes that are available. Select - Preview to see how your blog will look with a particular theme and Activate to choose the theme. You can always change the Theme later

After a Theme has been chosen go to the Posts menu on the drop down screen. Select – View to see the default post that is automatically put on you blog when you created it. Select - Edit to see how you can edit a post and the menu options available

Discuss how a post can be typed using Visual or HTML After viewing this post you may want to add your own personal post. Select – Add New on the Dashboard and begin customizing your post When you are finished – Select - Update and then Select - View Post to see how it looks. You can always edit or delete posts. Review some of the Editing features such as uploading and Inserting pictures and media

Explain and demonstrate some of the Editing features such as uploading and Inserting pictures and media

Provide an example of how to Upload a media file and add it to the iBlog Media Library where it can late be inserted into a post. Browse and Select a file from the H: drive to upload

This is the media library where documents and images can be stored and upload to posts

After discussing Media and the Media Library Select – Pages from the Dashboard Select and Update the Teacher Bio, Class Information, and Classroom Links Pages

Discuss Comments This is where student and visitors can leave comments and contribute to your blog. You can read the comments, approve them to appear on your blog so others can read them, or send them to the Trash
