Electricity

What is a circuit? A circuit is a closed path for electricity. A circuit must have a number of components to work. Components are; batteries, wires, lamps and switches. A circuit must be complete and closed for the electricity to be able to travel around it.

The Battery The battery is the power source. The bulb will only work if the circuit has a battery and all the wires are connected. Without a battery the circuit won’t work. Usually the battery is placed in a battery holder to connect it to the wires in a circuit. A battery has a positive and a negative side. The current always flows in one direction; from the negative to the positive side of the battery.

The wires The wires are the objects that allow electricity to flow through.
