Señora Thompson SPANISH I Gracias por venir a la clase y apoyar los estudiantes (Thank you for coming and supporting your students)

MY BLOG Add me as a FAVORITE to your “favorites bar.”  From my Blog you will find many things- Notes, my PowerPoints Review sheets, practice sheets, study guides, practice sites, songs and more Test & Quiz dates, web sites for practice….

IMPORTANT! Spanish is a high school course If your student passes semester 1 with a 70% or higher, and semester 2 with a 70% or higher, your child will take Spanish II next year and they will recieve high school credit Students who fall below the required average of 70% in the first semester will not receive high school credit for that semester, will go to Reading the next semester, but will have the opportunity to retake that semester in high school.

Test, Quiz Dates & Test Topics Are on my Blog- link is on the www.cobbk12.org/dickerson site under faculty, 8th grade and my name

Grading: 10% 50% 40% Homework Quizzes/oral participation Tests (4 in the 1st semester Second semester Final Exam (1p semester)

Homework 10% Students begin each quarter with 100% as a homework grade. Each time a student does not do a homework assignment, the grade is dropped five points. If a student makes up the assignment by the next school day, s/he earns three of the five points back. In the case of excused absence, all five points are replaced Graded based on completion If it’s complete, the student receives a stamp on their homework They (usu) have 5+ min. to start with me

Quiz Quizzes are 99% multiple choice and are 15-25 questions/matching/pictures If your student missed a quiz, s/he will receive a zero until it’s made up To make up, you student needs to ask their homeroom teacher to come down to my room during homeroom and make it up They only take a few minutes to take Once it’s made up, I’ll change the grade I only have class sets, I do not hand back out the set with the quiz If a student wants to see what was missed, the student can come in during homeroom

Oral Exams (Quiz Grade) Students have the questions and the answers as they are the homework and become the test questions Students need to answer in a complete sentence in Spanish I draw 5 random numbers from a jar

Tests 40% Tests are always written I hand-correct the errors Missed a test? Your student needs to see me and set up a time

Extra help?? Every Tuesday at 8:20 I have a help session I will have review sessions at 8:20 the day before every exam These are for students that have studied, but still don’t understand Study guides and practice sites are on my Blog
