1 Hanover High School Precalculus Mrs. Turocy 2016-2017
CLASS EXPECTATIONS First and foremost, I have high expectations of all my students. Successful students are on time, prepared, attentive and organized. Successful students are interested in learning and will ask questions. All students are expected to be respectful to every individual in the room at all times. GRADING POLICY Each of the four terms accounts for 2/9 of your overall grade, the final exam accounts for 1/9. The first three terms contain a cumulative benchmark test while the fourth does not. Each term your grade will be calculated using the following weights: Tests(2-3) and Benchmark(1) 45% Quizzes(2-3) and Projects(1) 30% Homework/Class work/ Group Work 20% Five Minute Check 5% The day before a test is always reserved for class review, whereas only a small amount of time might be spent prior to a quiz. After school help will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings 7:15 – 7:45 and Wednesday 2:45 to 3:15 as long as there is not a meeting or holiday. HOMEWORK Homework or class work occurs on a regular basis. The theory behind homework is not simply to give you busy work, but rather to give feedback on your comprehension of the material. Thus, my typical homework assignments are not long in nature so I would hope that you spend quality time completing it. When we go over problems the next time we meet, it is the duty of the student to check their work and ask appropriate questions. I encourage you to use an honest “self grade” for every assignment to help you determine whether you understand the material or need extra help. I will gladly answer a reasonable amount of questions in class and again will be available for extra help. - must be done the day it is due, no late homework will be accepted - must be completed thoroughly and neatly - date and assignment should be written on the top of each page - all examples and work must be shown - graded as follows: complete = 10 half complete = 5 less than half = 0 - you are allowed to miss 3 per term without it negatively affecting your grade

MATERIALS Notebook Writing implement Calculator (Graphing) It is expected that you are prepared for class everyday.
