Review previous progress P1 1. Briefly introduce the first of the two disorders you will be focusing this work on. 2. Which main body system is affected by the disorder you have chosen and what is the overall purpose / job of this body system? Use a diagram to support your explanation. 3. How does the body system work step-by-step? 4. What are the causes of the disorder – are they known? What are the risk factors? • Inherited traits • Lifestyle choices • Diet • Environment BOTH disorders

Definitions Diagnosis: the process by which the nature of the disease or disorder is determined, based on the signs and symptoms Sign: an objective indication of a disorder noticed by another person e.g. family member or healthcare professional Symptom: a feature the individual complains of Some can be both signs and symptoms; only an academic difference Activity sheet 14.3
