9 Research task

10 Physiological changes
When looking at the concept of physiological disorders, one key focus is the way in which they have an impact on one’s physiology. As seen in Sam’s video, cystic fibrosis had a huge impact on his respiratory system, which in turn affected his ability to maintain a healthy diet. As part of your P1, one of the requirements is for you to initially identify which body system is affected by your physiological disorders and then what impact does your chosen physiological disorder have on the other body systems.

11 Body systems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFS0-UNNfFs
Using the handout which you have been given, identify which body system is affected by your chosen physiological disorders. Write a sentence explaining how your chosen physiological disorders explicitly have an impact on the body system identified. Extension task: Joe’s story.

12 Signs and symptoms Signs and symptoms are key in the identification of a physiological disorders. Initial signs are those which are the commonly identified ones which occur in the majority of individuals who suffer with a physiological disorder which could also be applicable to a variety of other condition and might not necessarily cause alarm. Alarming signs and symptoms are the ones which can have detrimental impact on an individuals health and wellbeing and must be checked immediately by seeking out medical advice. Signs and symptoms which develop later on once an individual has been diagnosed are the ones which can occur following treatment or key changes implemented in an individual’s lifestyle.

13 Changes to overall body functions
Read through the handout you have been given and use of your chosen physiological disorder, identify 2 ways how it leads to overall body functions.
