Monitor & Control Project Project Assumptions: Mention that you are in INITIATE PROJECT phase, only planning the preliminary scope, schedule, budget and risk management planning information and identifying the stakeholders for the PROJECT EXECUTION phase, if the project gets approval to commence. Scope Planning Concepts Defines the design components, when assembled, is the project’s product Product Scope WBS/Project Scope Defines the groupings of work activities, to be built and integrated, tested and install to deliver the project’s product Design components Essentially the structure of work groupings to build, integrate the design components to become the product, test and install it Installed, tested & integrated design components , aka project’s product Essentially, the WBS is a DELIVERABLE oriented breakdown of project work into smaller chunks and a WBS’s deliverable is one of a project’s product’s design component

Project Schedule Design WBS Scope planning only identifies the static hierarchical structure of the SLDC and testing work activities that produce the software product During SCHEDULING, you work out the interdependencies between the SDLC activities within and across each WBS work groups when you use the GANTT chart or NETWORK DIAGRAM. This is where the WBS model in SCOPE planning is different from the WBS in SCHEDULE Planning (both uses the same WBS elements through) Use the NETWORK DIAGRAM to identify the critical path, stating why it is the most important aspect of Project Schedule Mgt work.

Project Schedule Design Static WBS activities are reused in SCHEDULE planning in listing out the activities to be scheduled

The specifics of what makes up agile (or even waterfall) Product Scope & WBS elements depends on the specific open or proprietary SDLC methodology used EG SCRUM
