THE FOUR SEASONS By: Soo-Jung Laura Kang LTEC February 15, 2010

Essential Question Why are there four seasons? What are the four seasons? What does each season do?

What the students must learn from the Four Seasons: Students will learn why there consist of Four Seasons in a year. Students will be able to identify the type of weather for each season. Students will understand why each season is the way it is.

Level of activities in terms of Blooms Taxonomy: Knowledge: Students will gain knowledge from knowing how to differentiate the four seasons, and know what, where, when, why and how the seasons perform. Comprehension: Students will understand why there are four seasons in a year, and what role each season plays. Application: Students will demonstrate this by being able to identify each season from observing the weather, and the time of the year.

Activities Identify the Four Seasons: Students will receive worksheets with four boxes that contain the four seasons along with 20 different types of smaller boxes labeled with at least five pictures that belong to each season. (items include: glue stick, safety scissors, and crayons.) Games: Students will be given Word Search games or Crossword Puzzles to learn how to spell the words that involve with the Seasons, and know how to identify the Four Seasons along with the weather, activities, dates, etc.

TEKS Science, Grade 2 (2.1) Scientific processes: The student learns to use scientific inquiry methods and critical thinking that must be involved. The student is expected to: (A) demonstrate safe practices during classroom and field investigations. (B) learn how to use and conserve resources and dispose of materials. (2.7) Science concepts. The student knows that many types of change occur. The student is expected to: (D) observe, measure, and record changes in weather, the night sky, and seasons.
