The Scientific Revolution The Beginning of Modern Science

Before The Greeks (Aristotle) and Muslims used reason to figure out scientific explanations…but they never ran experiments. Renaissance humanists (Leonardo da Vinci) explored new ideas in every field…but they never ran experiments. The Church only allowed science that did not “contradict” the Bible

But then… Reformation leaders (Martin Luther) threw away traditional ideas Columbus discovered two new continents, and explorers began to bring new ideas from all over the world From then on, scientists questioned EVERYTHING!

What was new? Run an experiment to test your theory! Use math! Use scientific instruments! New inventions increased power of human observation a. telescope b. microscope c. thermometer d. barometer
