The Peaceful Panda Paradise Altadeña Library The Peaceful Panda Paradise

Who can help you while you are in the library? Mrs. Slosky Altadeña Library Technician

When can you come to the library? You can visit before school from 8:00 – 8:25 – no pass required You will visit with your language arts teacher every other week The library is open for lunch everyday this year! You can visit the library during the LAST 15 minute of your lunch – YOU MUST HAVE A PASS

If you are entering the library with a pass, place your pass in the green basket : Place Pass Here

When you enter the library Altadeña pandas prefer a quiet environment. Please keep your voices to a whisper so you won’t disturb the panda habitat. This is a VERY important part of creating a peaceful panda paradise.

How many books can you check out and for how long? Students can check out up to THREE books for a TWO week period Students may have ONE renewal period Students are limited to one book in a series and one per author If books aren’t returned after two weeks, they become overdue. Students with an overdue book may not check out additional books until the overdue item is returned.

REMEMBER 3-2-1 3 Books 2 Weeks 1 Renewal

Library Etiquette Speak in a whisper voice Food, gum, candy, and drinks are NOT allowed Use your time appropriately. It should take around 10 minutes or less to locate and check out a book. Return items to their proper location. If you are not sure where a book goes, ask Mrs. Slosky to help you. Please do not push books to the back of the shelf; they need to stay forward. Form a line and wait your turn to check out a book. If you are not looking for or checking out a book, wait in the sitting area by the doors. Do not stand in the aisles and talk.

Return books here:

Please DO NOT push books to the back of the shelves.  YES 

Care of Books Remember, library books belong to Altadeña. If a library book or textbook is lost or damaged, the student and his/her family will be asked to pay for the replacement. While the library book is at home, please choose a safe place to keep it when it is not being read. Keep books up high, out of reach of pets. Keep your books inside a zipped backpack when you are not reading. That way, it is protected, and will be with you when it is time to return the book. Do not put books in your backpack with a water bottle. Water damage is the biggest reason books get damaged.

These computers are used for looking up books only.

These computers are for working on schoolwork. You must sign in to use a computer. The green sign-in book is on the front table. You can work on school work only, no games. Log off, shut down, and push your chair in when you are finished.

Thank you for your help! Thank you for making the Altadena library a Peaceful Panda Paradise! We hope you will take advantage of this quiet, peaceful place to enjoy a book, magazine, or simply relax and work. Peaceful reading!
