Click the mouse for each section and an Hibou will fly in to highlight where in the library the section is located. 4 Learning Commons Passes
Each class has 4 Learning Commons Passes Allows you to come to the LC to exchange books Sign out Pass from your teacher Learning Commons open for book exchanges Monday – Thursday 8:45 – 10:45 11:00-12:15 1:00 - 1:30 For book exchange, not reading

5 CHECKING OUT BOOKS Up to 5 books at a time How?
Can sign out at Self-Checkout or Circ Desk Can sign out in Blue Book if necessary Get Browser card Select books Use browser card to mark book’s place on shelf Return browser card Check out books Demonstrate selecting a book from the shelf using a browser card. Show what a library card looks like Show where the barcode is on a library book Click the sound button to demonstrate the beep that the scanner makes – once for library card, once for book barcode

7 WHAT CAN I TAKE OUT? HOW LONG CAN I KEEP IT? Books and magazines
DVDs are just for teachers Reference books are for library use only If book you want is out, ask for a Hold HOW LONG CAN I KEEP IT? 2 weeks If need more time, ask to Renew

8 Renewals and Holds Renew To get book/magazine for 2 more weeks
Up to 2 times if not on hold for someone else Holds Are for book/magazine already checked out Adds you to Hold list Kept for 1 week - after that Hold is cancelled Need to check out Hold when it comes in Tell Mrs. Rae if want to cancel Hold

9 RETURNING BOOKS Where: on the return cart When:
With a PASS What if: book is lost, wet, dirty or damaged? PLEASE let me know If it can’t be fixed/found, replacement cost $$ must be paid

11 HOW TO KEEP BOOKS HAPPY Lunch, water bottle Rain, snow
Hazards Strategy Lunch, water bottle Rain, snow Small children, pets Food Pens, crayons, etc. Other students Keep in a plastic bag in backpack Have a special place for library books that they can’t reach Don’t eat and read at the same time Keep book away from your drawing area Don’t share library books
