Ayurveda Biology & Chronobiology OUR BODY WANTS TO RUN LIKE A SWISS WATCH

Chronobiology is a field of biology that examines periodic (cyclic) phenomena in living organisms and their adaptation to the environmental rhythms around them. Biological rhythms allows the organisms to harmonize with the environment easily zeitgeber is any external or environmental cue that entrains or synchronizes an organism's biological rhythms to the Earth's 24-hour light/dark cycle and 12-month cycle Light, Atmospheric, Drugs, Temperature, Social interactions, Pharmacological manipulation, Exercise, Eating/drinking patterns

Our daily life is structured by 3 different clocks Solar clock which provides daily light and temperature changes; A social clock which is based on work or family-related factors; The internal biological clock

Circadian rhythm any biological process that displays an endogenous, entrainable oscillation of about 24 hours

Suprachiasmatic nucleus - A tiny region in the hypothalamus that control the circadian Rhythm. CLOCK and BMAL1 together activate transcription of the genes period (Per) and cryptochrome (Cry), and some other important genes. PER and CRY proteins slowly accumulate and dimerise and feed back to inhibit CLOCK–BMAL1-dependent transcription.

Dimensions of Chronobiology pharmacology pharmacodynamics pharmacokinetics metabolism ….

In other words, as long as our internal clocks are working properly and are ‘in synch’ with our lifestyles, we can function normally. Placing the chronotype ‘night owl’ in an environment typical for the chronotype ‘larks (early birds)’ can have a profound negative effect on the emotional, physical or psychological health of the individual.
