Why Do we Have Procedures? We key in a phone number to place a call We use a combination to open a lock We follow certain steps to do origami

ENTRANCE Make sure you have class materials Enter quietly Go directly to seat Get ready for work

WHEN THE SECOND BELL RING Check agenda Start bell work When you finish, wait quietly for the next direction.

AGENDA Posted daily – check when you enter Schedule for class bell work to do immediately Reminders Materials needed

DURING INSTRUCTION Listen to the teacher with full attention. No pencil sharpening, talking, whispering or phones Ask permission to speak by raising your hand. Ask questions related to the subject.

WHILE YOU ARE WORKING Read or listen to directions Ask students around you for clarification before asking teacher Be polite and kind Talking no louder than a whisper. Use your time wisely

ASKING FOR YOUR ATTENTION “Ladies and gentlemen can I have your attention?” or “listen up” or “Are you ready?” May also raise my hand When you hear or see this signal please: stop what you are doing; look at the teacher; listen for instructions

If the Phone Rings or PA comes on Stop what you’re doing Listen without talking Return to task at hand when announcement ends

WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED Check over, check directions If the assignment is to be turned in, do so. Study or read quietly

DISMISSAL With 3 minutes left I will ask you to pack up You may put away supplies, tidy up around desk and straighten up desks Remain seated until I say “Have a nice day!”

TRANSITIONS BETWEEN ROOMS I will ask you to put away work Remain seated until I say it is time to leave Walk quietly and quickly to next room – no stopping Last out – close door, turn off lights

MISSED A TEST MUST be “excused absent” to arrange a new test time (bring me a note/email from guardian) See me to set up test time I reserve the right to refuse re-test Unexcused absent receives “0”

SUBMITTING ASSIGMENTS NAME CLASS DUE DATE on page I will collect homework/assignments on day they are due

MISSING ASSIGNMENT SLIP For students who do not have the assigned homework Fill it out Sign and date it Turn it in with homework papers
