The Horrible Winter at Valley Forge 1777-1778

Dec. 1777 – Washington’s army consisted of around 12,000 -14,000men

After a series of defeats in Pennsylvania - Washington takes his army to it’s winter camp at Valley Forge

Valley Forge - It was a horrible winter - lack of food and clothing - extreme weather - No battle ever took place here - The only enemy was cold and hunger

TO THIS DAY, VALLEY FORGE IS REMEMBERED FOR SUFFERING AND COURAGE
