Study Higher Pioneers Project Supporting the Progression of Pakistani and Bangladeshi Girls In to Higher Education

What is the Pioneers Project?

The Pioneers Project Model Create and pilot new interventions that target identified barriers for local Pakistani and Bangladeshi female school students Literature reviews and in-depth interviews with Pakistani and Bangladeshi female undergraduates WP Practice Evaluation & Dissemination WP Research Evaluate success of project and intervention and disseminate findings

Literature Review Findings: 1) Impact of geography and university distance on choice 2) Traditional subject choice 3) Higher levels of graduate unemployment

Pilot Intervention: Pioneers Conference Free one day event targeted at local Pakistani and Bangladeshi girls in High Wycombe, Reading and Oxford Impartial information and guidance on Higher Education and Student Finance Impartial advice on careers and employability Question and Answer sessions with current students and successful female role models from a range of different careers

Next stages Deliver Pioneers Conference in November Evaluate and disseminate the project’s findings
